Partners
The Warrior Village Project is a community effort. It is a collaboration of building industry trade groups, nonprofits serving veterans, high schools and community colleges, business and private donors, and private citizens working together to provide affordable, permanent housing for homeless veterans while training the next generation of homebuilders. Each of the organizations contributing to the Project is providing expertise and resources consistent with its unique capabilities and the mission of its organization. Industry Partners
The California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF) provides the Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) curriculum and grants to participating high schools. CHF recruits industry support for schools and facilitates interaction with program sites and local industry. |
To enhance the built environments’ workforce development efforts throughout the state, the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) offers three programs for high school students: the CREATE Mentoring Program, the Design Build Competition, and the CREATE Summer Camp. |
The Building Industry Association of San Diego County (BIA) and its individual members have supported the Warrior Village Project by providing instructional support for the Building Industry Technology Academy program and contributing tools and construction materials to our participating schools. |
The San Diego Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America operates the state’s first and largest open-shop apprenticeship program. AGC’s Apprenticeship Program instructors teach our students on high school campuses and at the AGC Apprenticeship Training Facility in San Diego.

HomeAid is a nonprofit provider of housing and resources for people experiencing homelessness, operating through a network of 19 chapters in 13 states. Supported by the building industry, HomeAid’s mission is building new lives for America’s homeless through housing and community outreach. |
The HBI (Home Builders Institute) transitioning military program creates a unique opportunity through job readiness and career connections that inspire hope, confidence, and long-term success for graduates in a career field that desperately needs their skills and experience. |
The WCC (Women’s Construction Coalition) mentors the next generation of successful women leaders in the construction industry. WCC mentors female and male students through Julia Morgan Society Clubs at San Diego high schools. |
Wordforce Connect is a workforce development non-profit organization committed to positively impacting the lives of individuals and communities. Its mission is simple: to bridge the gap between individuals seeking meaningful employment and the skills demanded by today’s job market. |
College Partners
Palomar College, a public, two-year college, is the largest community college in San Diego County. Palomar’s Departments of Architecture, Cabinet and Furniture Technology, and Interior Design are providing architectural and interior design support and building custom cabinets for our cottages. |
Service Provider Partners
Project Next (formerly known as The San Marcos Promise) is the fiscal sponsor for the Warrior Village Project at San Marcos High School. Project Next is a 501(c)(3) that accepts donations to fund the purchase of tools and materials for the construction of our houses at San Marcos High School. |
Wounded Warrior Homes, Inc. is a San Marcos, California based 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to provide transitional housing and re-integrative services to post 9/11 veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD). Our first cottage was donated to WWH. |
Veterans helping Veterans – Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) has built 300 homes for severely wounded veterans, including 22 in San Diego and Riverside Counties. HFOT has helped the Warrior Village Project identify homes where our cottages could be installed as ADUs (i.e. ‘Granny Flats’).

Partner High Schools
Our partner schools include San Marcos High School in San Marcos, Montecito High School in Ramona, Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, Poway High School in Poway, and San Pasqual High School in Escondido. We are working to grow our network of partner schools throughout San Diego County.
San Marcos High School started its construction program and a cottage for the Warrior Village Project in September 2019, which was given to Wounded Warrior Homes. SMHS started building its first Moveable Tiny House in January 2024 and its second in September 2024. |
Montecito High School has a highly regarded construction program. The Toros routinely win gold medals at SkillsUSA competitions. They employed these skills by pitching in to help SMHS with the construction of our first Warrior Village Project Cottage for Wounded Warrior Homes. |
Rancho Buena Vista High School started a construction program in September 2021 using the Building Industry Technology Academy curriculum. They opened their construction and industrial welding facility on 6 February 2024. RBV started building its first Moveable Tiny House in September 2024. |
Poway High School held a CTE Builders Bootcamp during the summer of 2021 which evolved into an after school program and subsequently a fulltime construction class building Moveable Tiny Houses in 2022 – 2023. Poway students have built two Tiny Houses and an annex building for their workshop. |
San Pasqual High School has a thriving Building & Construction Trades program. SPHS construction students started building one of two Moveable Tiny Houses that San Diego County high schools started building in January 2024 with the support of the Warrior Village Project. |
